AI deepfake insurance

AI deepfake insurance: coverage for deepfakes, AI content, and claims.

The short answer

AI deepfake insurance from CreatorSure covers both sides of AI. Media liability pays for your defense when someone says AI content you made used their likeness, voice or work, or defamed them. Fight Back helps pay for a lawyer when someone makes a deepfake of you, clones your voice or uses your content to train or sell AI without permission.

AI makes content faster. It makes claims faster too. Deepfake insurance covers you either way.

What AI deepfake insurance covers

  • Claims over AI-generated content you publish
  • Likeness and voice claims over AI images, avatars and voice tools
  • Copyright claims over AI output that looks like someone else's work
  • Defamation claims over AI content about real people
  • Fight Back for deepfakes of you and unauthorized AI use of your likeness, voice or content

The risks

Risks creators face with AI and deepfakes

  • AI images and video that look like a real person.
  • Voice cloning that sounds like a real artist or creator.
  • AI output that copies a recognizable style or work.
  • AI scripts and captions that state false things about real people.
  • Deepfakes of you used in scams, fake ads or fake endorsements.

Fight Back

Fight Back: when someone makes a deepfake of you or steals your AI content

Deepfakes of you

Fake videos or images of you posted or sold without consent.

Voice clones

Your voice cloned for ads, scams or content you never made.

Deepfake of me: what can I do?

If you find a deepfake of you, a few general steps help:

  • Save evidence: links, screenshots, dates and account names
  • Report it to the platform using its impersonation or synthetic media tools
  • Talk to a lawyer about your options
  • Tell your audience if it's being used to scam them

This is general information, not legal advice. Fight Back helps pay for that lawyer, takedowns and demand letters for deepfakes you find after your policy starts. It isn't for one you already know about, so get covered before it happens.

Proof of insurance

Proof of insurance for brands and platforms

Brands, agencies and platforms working with AI content increasingly ask for proof of coverage. Once you're covered, CreatorSure sends a certificate of insurance to anyone who needs it.

General liability

Does general liability cover deepfakes or AI content?

General liability, or GL, is the policy lots of small businesses buy. One part of it, Coverage B, is for personal and advertising injury. For an ordinary business, like a plumber, that part typically covers defamation claims.

For businesses primarily engaged in advertising, broadcasting, publishing or telecasting, that part is typically limited or excluded, and most creators fall into that group. This is called the media exclusion, and GL doesn't address claims over your content the way media liability does.

GL was never built for AI content claims. CreatorSure covers cyber liability for account takeovers and AI scams too (ask for it on your quote). Keep GL for physical accidents (CreatorSure covers general liability too and will place it alongside your media liability), and add media liability for your content.

Cost

AI deepfake insurance cost

There's no flat price, and we won't guess at one here. Your AI deepfake insurance cost depends on how much you use AI in your content, your audience size, your revenue, the kind of content you make, the limits brands ask for, and your claims history.

CreatorSure builds the quote around you, so you're not paying for extras you don't need. See what moves the price, then request a quote for a real number.
